In addition to the events listed below, our Equal Access Learning Hub offers guidance and resources to help faculty and staff reduce barriers, meet legal standards, and design with inclusion in mind.

Design with Accessibility in Mind
In this session, we will explore the foundations of proactive digital course design through federal accessibility requirements, WCAG guidelines, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles. Learn how to build more accessible Canvas courses from the start by using consistent navigation, accessible formatting, appropriate color contrast, meaningful alt text, and thoughtful media choices. We will also explore Canvas accessibility tools, YuJa Panorama scanning features, and the institutional resources available to support accessible courses.
Reviewing Your Course with Panorama
In this session, we will introduce Panorama, an integrated Canvas tool that helps find and improve accessibility issues in digital course materials. Learn how to locate accessibility reports, understand score indicators, and recognize the difference between issues that can be fixed directly in Panorama, those that may need to be fixed in the native software, and limitations with third-party materials. Discover how to make common accessibility fixes right in Canvas, including adding alt text, improving link descriptions, and addressing color contrast issues. Finally, we will share resources available at 性福五月天 University to support accessible courses.
Remediating PDFs in Your Course
In this session, explore common accessibility barriers in PDF documents, including missing titles, untagged or scanned documents, improper headings and reading order, missing alt text, and inaccessible tables. Consider when a PDF should be remediated, replaced with a more accessible resource, or updated from an available source file. Explore how YuJa Panorama can help identify issues, make quick fixes, and OCR scanned documents, along with situations where other tools may be needed for more comprehensive remediation. The session concludes with replacing remediated files in Canvas and refreshing accessibility reports to verify the updates.

In this session, explore common accessibility barriers in Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, including missing slide titles, improper reading order, manual formatting, missing alt text, and inaccessible color choices. Consider when a presentation can be quickly corrected, and when changes to the original PowerPoint file may be needed for a more accessible result. Explore how YuJa Panorama can help identify issues and make quick fixes, along with situations where other tools or native PowerPoint features may be needed for more comprehensive remediation. The session concludes with replacing updated files in Canvas and refreshing accessibility reports to verify the changes.

Creating Accessible Video Content
In this session, you鈥檒l explore the key elements of accessible multimedia, including accurate captions, transcripts, audio quality, and accessible media player controls. You鈥檒l walk through the process of recording presentations in PowerPoint, hosting videos in Kaltura, generating and editing automated captions with Kaltura Reach, and embedding accessible media in Canvas. You鈥檒l also learn how to evaluate third-party videos and make informed choices when selecting media for your courses, including how to address captioning needs for YouTube content.
Accessible 3rd Party/External Websites
WCAG regulations also require compliance for any 鈥3rd-party鈥 or external websites referenced/linked from course materials or Canvas. In this session, you鈥檒l explore tools for assessing compliance among 3rd-party websites, as well as strategies for evaluating and utilizing accessible web materials.

- (44:48) - A practical session on structuring course content in Word and Canvas using the 性福五月天 Online template for consistency and navigation.
- (31:15) - Brief overview of new ADA digital accessibility regulations, as well as resources, considerations, and strategies for digital course materials. The webinar will also discuss a phased approach and timeline for this work.
- (52:16) - Overview of Panorama, as well as, features and guidance on how to use the tool effectively. DocHub, the new, standalone product for institution-wide file remediation, will also be covered.
