Mergers, Integrations, & Divestitures represent some of the most significant corporate change events for accounting and finance personnel and departments. Each unique transaction has many different challenges before, during, and after the transaction. FP&A-2: M&A Value Drivers: Quality of Earnings and Tax Considerations (F)

FP&A-3: Effective Data-Driven Storytelling (Session 1 of 2) (TH)

Session #1: This session is designed to introduce people to the key principles behind effective data-driven storytelling. This involves how combining the data, visuals, and narrative are necessary to tell a data-driven story. We will share the role of all 3 and key principles for designing meaningful visuals that aid the storytelling process. 

FP&A-4: Effective Data Visualization for Finance Professionals: Tools and Best Practices (Session 2 of 2) (F)

Session #2: This session is designed to focus on building effective data visuals. This session will build on the Effective Data-Driven Storytelling session but is not required to attend. We will review effective data visualization principles and walk through how to build several data visualizations in Excel and then mention benefits of common BI platforms such as Power BI and Tableau. You will get hands-on practice with examples and software provided in KSU's new computer lab.

LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT SKILLS (L&M)

L&M-1: Ethical Application of Artificial Intelligence: Guiding Principles for Accountants - Thursday sessions (2) (TH)

As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly integrated into accounting systems and services, professionals must navigate a complex ethical landscape. This course examines AI鈥檚 implications across financial reporting, auditing, tax, advisory, and client interactions, exploring core ethical principles such as integrity, objectivity, due care, and professional skepticism. Participants will also address emerging concerns including bias, accountability, transparency, and data governance, gaining practical guidance and ethical frameworks to responsibly leverage AI while safeguarding public trust. This session explores how proactive tax strategies can be used to stabilize a business and prepare it for a successful sale. TECH-1: Blackline  鈥 Panel Discussion Client Success & Lessons Learned (F)

The panel will discuss their experiences in using BlackLine software as a component of their finance and accounting transformation efforts. The discussion will touch on approaches for:  Standardizing and automating financial close tasks, such as account reconciliation, integrating with existing ERP systems, and improving compliance efforts. The panel will share challenges experienced and lessoned learned.

TECH-3: The Modern AI Excel Stack for Finance and Accounting Professionals (TH)

Excel is evolving into an AI-enabled analytics platform, and this demonstration-based session shows how finance and accounting professionals can take advantage of that shift. Participants will see how modern Excel tools support automated data preparation, AI-assisted analysis, and workflow automation. The session will also preview emerging capabilities that point toward increasingly automated financial processes, helping reduce manual effort and risk while improving insight and efficiency.

TECH-3: Introduction to using AI tools with Excel (TH & F)

This session on using AI tools with Excel, including Copilot, is designed to take the fear out of AI, and enhance productivity and efficiency in data management tasks. Learn how to take advantage of Copilot and ChatGPT with Excel to work smarter, automate repetitive tasks, analyze data more effectively, and gain insights using AI capabilities. You're welcome to bring your laptop if you would like to follow along (optional).

TECH-4: Streamlining Financial and Accounting Data Prep with Power Query (Session 1 of 2) (TH & F)

This hands-on session introduces Power Query as a practical tool for preparing financial and accounting data for analysis. Participants will learn foundational techniques such as removing duplicates, correcting data types, reshaping tables, and combining or splitting columns using representative datasets. The session will also demonstrate how preparation steps can be saved and refreshed as data changes, helping streamline recurring workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve data quality and reliability.

TECH-5: Building Financial and Accounting Data Models with Power Pivot (Session 2 of 2) (TH & F)

This hands-on session introduces Power Pivot for analyzing financial and accounting data using multiple related tables within Excel. Participants will learn how to create basic relationships, understand the data model, and build introductory DAX measures and calculated columns. The session will demonstrate how these measures drive dynamic PivotTable reports that update automatically as data changes, enabling more flexible and scalable analysis than traditional spreadsheet formulas.

TECH-6:  QuickBooks Online - Making it Work for You (Session 1 of 2) (F)

Many QuickBooks users never move beyond basic transaction processing and standard reports. This session highlights commonly overlooked features that can improve efficiency, accuracy, and financial insight. Participants will learn practical tips for streamlining workflows, enhancing reporting, and getting more value from QuickBooks in day-to-day accounting operations, with opportunities to share favorite tools and best practices.
